A few miles offshore from the tiny fishing village of Gansbaai you will find South Africa’s great white shark mecca – Dyer Island and nearby Geyser Rock which is separated by what is affectionately known as Shark Alley. Dyer Island, named after an American settler, Sam Dyer. Dyer Island is home to thousands of African penguins, gannets, cormorants and on Gyeser Rock more than 50 000 Cape fur seals.
